Stony Point Rock Quarry

In the late 1800s Stony Point Rock Quarry was located on Peterson Road, west of its current location. It was known for providing marble-like blocks for building construction in Sonoma and Marin counties, including the County Courthouse in Santa Rosa, the Miller Block at Main & Washington Street in Petaluma, the Phoenix Block on Main Street in Sebastopol, and the Catholic Church in Tomales.

In the 1900s the quarry was relocated to its current home on Stony Point Road. Since that time, materials mined from this location have been crushed and used primarily in the construction industry for roadways, drainage, and rip rap stabilization. In 1987, Soiland Company, ran by founder Marv Soiland, became sole-owner of the quarry after a long career in the local construction industry.

In the 1990’s, Soiland Company and Stony Point Rock Quarry became a second-generation family business, with several of the next generation participating in management and operations.

Marv’s son, Mark Soiland, serves as the company’s President and CEO of all three Soiland Company locations. To make a wider selection of aggregate materials available to Sonoma County residents and contractors, Stony Point Rock Quarry expanded it construction-grade aggregates to include many landscaping and pathway products. Under Mark Soiland’s leadership, Stony Point Rock Quarry has also expanded its sustainable practices to include solar power for our offices and quarry plant.

Our high quality products, including specialty items and custom mixes, are readily available for pick up at our yard, or we can deliver straight to your project site.

Additionally, if you have rubble material left over from a past construction or remodel project, please bring us your waste! In the last five years our two aggregate sites, Stony Point Rock Quarry and Soils Plus, have diverted over 500,000 tons of recyclable materials from landfills with our recycling programs, making Soiland Company one of the largest rubble recyclers in the North Bay.

At Stony Point Rock Quarry we accept clean concrete, porcelain (such as toilets and sinks), brick, tile, and rock from local homeowners and contractors and recycle them into sustainable, affordable products for our customers.

For example, when a contractor or homeowner brings in their recyclable materials into the quarry we use various techniques to separate, screen, and process the material into products such as our 3/4″ Class 2 Recycle Aggregate Base.

Our team is happy to assist all our customers in finding the right product for their next landscaping or construction project. To learn more about our team in Cotati and the products we have available, please click the button below.
